About Me ...

Hi, I am M K Saravanan. This is my personal home page. After working for 8 years in networking (TCP/IP, VoIP), finally I am happy to come back to basic Science. Yes, I joined full-time Ph.D. from 23rd July 2007 onwards at National University of Singapore (ECE dept) and my area of research will be on Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). At the moment, I am a complete newbie in this area and this field is very interesting. I am learning everything from scratch.

Tech. Talk @ Bangalore IT.COM

I gave a tech. talk on "Indian Language Computing" at Tata Auditorium, IISc Campus, Bangalore on 4th Nov. 2000, as a part of IT.COM 2000 event. I am not an expert in this field. In the International Scenario India is far behind when compared to the European languages, Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc.., in creating/building lexical resources etc.., Apart from that, currently there is a lack of awareness about the problems in Indian Language Computing, among programmers and techies. The remedy to improve the Indian Language Computing is:

Create Awareness about the existing problems in Indian Lang. Computing among programmers, students, linguists, Free/Open Source software supporting movements like Indian Linux User Groups, etc..,
Tell them the need for creating/building the lexical resources
Free/Open Source is the most suitable choice for Indian Language Computing.
